Here’s a sample of my recent seed bead work: Thousands of seed beads and other beads have gone into this purple and lavender sparkly necklace/collar. Very striking, IMHO. There’s also one in the same pattern in black and silver.

What’s in a Name--Island Bead & Box?
Well, I’ll tell you. When the business was started, Jerry and I lived on San Juan Island, Washington. I made lampwork beads. Jerry made small, fine jewelry boxes. As happens in life, things changed. After 10 years on the island, rarely seeing the sun, we decided to find a warm place, which we did. Jerry plays golf, I play bridge, we both workout, and the business has changed.
NOW WHAT?
I’m Luann Jamison, and after 14 years of lampwork bead making, I shifted to fused glass. There must have been a reason that I didn’t migrate to fused glass earlier. Maybe it was because it’s just too easy following on the heels of lampwork bead making, which is NOT easy. And if there is anything that I need in my life, it’s a challenge. So, no more fused glass. What you see on the web site now, is all there will ever be, so if you want a “Luann original,” (lol) now’s the time.
I’ve been making beaded jewelry for years, and have been making kumihimos for the last three years or so, both of which I enjoy. They are generally challenging and time-consuming but the creative reward of the final product is a delight. I hope you’ll take a look around at my work.
