Formerly an ad executive, I’m now an artist. Those from my ad agency would never believe that, but then again, maybe. I think you do have to be somewhat artistic to be successful in the ad business.
My husband, Jerry, was a partner in a law firm in San Francisco when we (suddenly, it now seems) decided to take early retirement and escape the city. Off we went to San Juan Island, Washington. We knew no one. But we had bought a house on 5 acres, which we knew would keep us busy. It did, briefly. With a wonderful view of the water, we just had to think about getting a boat. Four boats and 10 years later, we realized we just did not want to be there through another Winter.
This was my last (and smallest) boat in the San Juan’s. At 50 MPH, a very exciting ride. I bought a fast boat when Jerry decided he didn’t really like boating so that I could go just as far into the Canadian Gulf Islands, but be away from home fewer nights. And yes, it had a galley, head, sleeping quarters, TV, and all the comforts you could squeeze into a 32-foot fast boat.

I did a lot f research on the internet and found Tucson. We moved here 5 years ago, and we have never regretted it. We are happy to be here! A couple of years ago, we had snow! You can see a piece of our first home in Tucson and the Catalina mountains in the distance.

A typical sunset across our pool.

Our house was on the edge of a cliff overlooking a wash.

As for our new home, here’s part of the yard.

More yard:

While on San Juan Island, I delved into jewelry making, then lampwork bead making, which I continued to do for about 12 years. I had a wonderful batch of buyers who were very loyal (and very complimentary), so it was a great deal of fun. Here’s a shot of my work table, torch and a bit of glass.

Enjoy the photos. I’ll try to add more from time to time.
And please send me an e-mail to comment, ask questions or just to say hello.
